Arranging a scan or X-ray
To book a scan the referrer should:
1- download and print off the appropriate request form below or use local hospital form
2- fill in the boxes, including contact details and referrer signature
3- return form to us- best by fax but email or post is fine
4- we contact the patient to book the scan
5- we fax report back to the referrer within 1 working day of the scan
6- any questions?- just contact us and we can discuss your requirements
We welcome self paying, insured (including BUPA and AXA-PPP) and medico-legal referrals.
We want to make it as easy as possible to arrange investigations with us but we will always act responsibly to ensure safeguards are in place to prevent unnecessary or inappropriate investigation. The patients welfare remains our primary concern. We can provisionally arrange scans and other investigations over the phone or by email but we cannot carry them out until such referrals are confirmed by a regulated medical professional in writing (post or fax).
We adhere to the Royal College of Radiologists guidelines for doctors.
MRI and Ultrasound scan referrals
We can accept referrals for MRI and ultrasound scans from doctors and other regulated medical professionals such as physiotherapists, chiropractors and nurses but we ask that your GP is kept informed and we may contact the referrer to discuss the request if they are not personally known to us.
CT scan and X-ray referrals
Referrals for CT scans and X-ray examinations are regulated by ionizing radiation legislation and, in most cases, we can only accept referrals from qualified medical or dental practitioners.
Referral form or letter
We will need a completed referral form or a letter containing the same information. Once we receive this we will contact you to explain what you will need to do and to arrange a convenient time for your scan. After your scan the result will be faxed back to the referrer so it is essential that we have full contact details for both you and the referrer.
Your GP will probably already have the necessary forms but you, or your doctor, can print off a request form by clicking on the link below. We need the signed form returned by post or fax before we can book the investigation.

Click here for CT / ultrasound / other investigation request form.
Print off the form using the printer icon in your browser bar or the PRINT command under FILE. Don't worry if this sounds too complicated - you can contact us by phone, email or online enquiry form and we will help you through it or post you the form.
How long will you have to wait?
We will contact you and offer an appointment within 24 hrs of receiving a referral. We are currently (May 2008) experiencing a period of high demand for MRI and there may be a few days delay for your scan but we will let you know if this is the case when we contact you. We have no waiting list for CT, plain x-ray or ultrasound. The result should be available within 24 hours and we will fax the result whenever possible. Occasionally a scan will need to be reviewed by another radiologist and this may cause a little delay.
Insured patients take note
We can accept BUPA and AXA-PPP referrals. Some insurance companies only cover scans if referred by a Hospital Specialist so, if you intend to claim, you should contact your medical insurance provider before having the scan.
